WHO WE ARE
WHAT WE DO
ENK Public Art Group is a registered Namibian Non-Profit Organization specializing in the commissioning and implementation of public art innovations (sculptures, murals, creative walkways, art installations, urban design areas) within Namibia. We seek to create awareness about public art, especially how it serves as a unique role player in preserving and recreating our Namibian heritage and identity. Public art also seeks to build and inspire relationships and communication with the community that directly experience it, while equally being a form of collective expression that enhances the built or natural environment.
WHAT WE HOPE TO ACHIEVE
Provide alternative ways to experience art, outside of museums and galleries.

Challenge audiences to think deeper about the immediate environment they inhabit.

Give local artists opportunities to experiment with site-specific installations, while unlocking or even creating new meanings to our everyday public spaces.

Establish connections with like-minded public art creatives around world, so our Namibian artists may create in other countries, while also inviting other nationalities to share their creative expressions in Namibia.
ENK GAME PLAN
The successful completion of each project depends on the well organised 4Â step process of: Design - Authorization - Support - Create.

DESIGN
1 Once we have scouted an area that needs our creative attention, we as a team - or along with other artistic individuals - will brainstorm inventive ideas. These ideas will then be drawn up by our team of professionals so that the different commissioning agents can see our vision for the selected area.
AUTHORISATION
2 An approving agreement of our proposed creative project will need to be struck between the ENK Institute For Public Art and the appropriate commissioning agent to authorise the construction / altering of their property.

SUPPORT
3 As a Non-Profit Organization, most of our creative ability and implementation depends on the support from external organizations, institutions or individuals who are interested in artistically changing the way we view our Namibian public spaces. Support can come in the form of funds or material.
CREATE
4 This is our favourite part! When all has been designed and understood, authorized and accepted, support and paid for, the artist will receive all the material they need to begin their public art project. All safety, traffic & municipal regulations are taken into consideration. After a few days, a neglected public space has now turned into an attractive site for our city or town.

"Art has always been a part of my life. The art of combat through Muay Thai training, my love for Architecture, performing hip-hop themed performance art pieces on stage, writing scripts & directing theatre plays, even sports commentary; all these creative bubbles have contributed to my strong passion for public art. And as a board member to the National Arts Council of Namibia, my knowledge within the field of policy and framework allows for a creative synergy for ENK Public Art Group. Finally replenishing our vast desert country, with bucket loads of colour & abstract structures. Working together with local & international artists to change our everyday public spaces. How exciting!"
